Ballads for the last day
* I have always been impressed by Gram Parsons' ability to compose great songs, especially ballads. Ever since I had the first girl around my arms. That was when she and I danced listening to brass buttons (but we thougt it was a love song, and in fact it was, but for his mother). One of them, torrid as a hot summer night is hot burrito #1, here in a version by Gene Parsons.
* Gram also has a wonderful ballad, she, which I wrongly assumed it was that appearing on notting hill (the movie), played by Elvis Costello. Of course, there are two completely different songs. Both are incredible songs to dance slow endlessly.
* Now, another great follower of Gram Parsons is Raul Malo, head of The Mavericks. He also sang both hot burritos (#2 instrumental only, if I'm not wrong). Today, that superb voice and his mates bring us I Should Have Been True.
* A good soul ballad is a must for a nice huggin' and kissin'. Please, listen to Al Green singing Million To One, from his excellent last album (I can't stop, 2003). Do not worry, i'm not gonna link you to Barry White's your the first,,,,
* We'll keep on with a little bit more big ol' soul. Remember when Roberta Flack made it to the top?. Here are the fugees remembering it.
* Next song is not exactly a ballad, but ... what can I say, we just need a little stretching around here. Listen to the one and only Jackie Wilson.
*OK, this is it. Six songs are enough. If your couple does not go with you tomorrow night, then review other concepts. I'll see you soon.
