Capital gains tax benefits for non-residents of Spain
As from 1st January 2007 there are changes in the capital gains tax laws in Spain which favour non-residents of Spain wanting to sell their property.
The amount of tax payable by non-residents on the profit from the sale of their property is reduced from 35% to 18%.
Also, the percentage of the sale price which non-residents will have to leave with the notary to cover their potential capital gains liability is reduced from 5% to 3%.
