Weekly Report
One of the thing that leaves me more agape about this country are the morning news. If leaving in Barcelona you’ve get used to the “farmers strike and throw rotten eggs to the Conseller of Agriculture” or you enjoy the latest antic of Mr. Carod, here the stories are quite different. Taking this morning: “men gets 20 years for raping a 84 years old women in a public hospital …[…]...nurses opened the door, discovered the scene and called the police…” or “hillbillie goes medieval and fights cops with a suit of armour...[…]...cops bring him down with a teaser…” More more!! Come on: “couple gets 30 years for bank assault and leaving a death guard behind” and the latest zany “a CNN presentator is told his husband has been headshot 5’ before going live…[…]...police chases the agressor…[…]...he barricates at home …[…]...cops tear-gased him and got his ass out!!! ” –applauses are heard from behind the speaker’s microphone.
Commenting this with my Venezolan friend she smirked: in Caracas, a car bomb doesn’t make even the evening news….it’s too common.
