27-9-06 CITIES ETIQUETTE QUIZ
Welcome to the new edition of the Business English course I have the pleasure of teaching at the EOI.
Business English is an international code of communication. As such it is not only the language that is dealt with in this course. There are also other aspects to consider: business etiquette, i.e., good manners when dealing with international hosts and/or guests.
Merriam Webster's definition for etiquette is:
1 : the forms required by good breeding or prescribed by authority to be observed in social or official life : observance of the proprieties of rank and occasion : conventional decorum *the strict etiquette of court functions*
2 : an item of behavior prescribed by rule or custom
3 : the rules of conduct, action, or practice binding on members of a profession (as medicine or law) especially in their relations with one another
As the course is intended to make you acquainted with the most common business situations within an international context, let me just propose the following activity as an introductory lesson.
Click on the link below, this will take you to a QUIZ whose purpose is to make you familiar with some cultural differences in international relations. Read and decide your answers. Soon I will provide you with the questions to it.
